Indoor, Outdoor, Upside down!
The sun sets over the green grass, as the stars slowly appear one by one.... children are wide eyed and adults relax with a glass of wine as the strains of orchestral music drift into the falling night....but this is not an outdoor venue, but the Concert Hall at Lighthouse! The BSO’s Indoor Outdoor Festival is a new venture in association with Lighthouse – three concerts that will give all the atmosphere of an outdoor concert without the worry of the weather.
The huge Lighthouse Concert Hall will be transformed with a synthetic grass lawn; open access to allow movement during the concert where necessary and a choice of discounted food and drink available in the venue.Special lighting and effects will give the impression of night falling on a summer’s day, with the moon rising slowly over the orchestra. To add to the atmosphere all concert goers are encouraged to bring either a cushion and sit on the grass; or a garden chair for more comfort (or you can take a more conventional route and sit in the concert hall balcony).
The three concerts reflect the summer mood - Friday 25 June at 7.30pm is A Night Out with George - featuring classics by George Gershwin; and Saturday 26 June at 7.30pm is a BSO Choral Spectacular, with the BSO joined by Bournemouth Symphony Chorus.And not to forget our younger music lovers - also on Saturday 26 June at 3.00pm will be a Mini BSO Teddy Bears’ Picnic for children and grandchildren - an hour of fun led by the Mini-BSO – a lovely musical experience ideal for children from 5 to 11 years old. And every Teddy Bear is admitted free!

An unreserved ‘Front Lawn’ Ticket (bring your own rug or cushion!) is £9; An unreserved ‘ Rear Lawn’ ticket (bring your own chair) is £12; and a Balcony ticket (reserved seating) is £16. The Teddy Bears’ Picnic Concert is children under 12 £3, accompanying adults £6.
